GENERAL
Prof. Dr. Jacobus (Kobus) Kok (BTh, MDiv [summa cum laude], MTh [summa cum laude], PhD [summa cum laude]) is Associate Professor of New Testament Studies at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Kobus is associate editor of the journal Verbum et Ecclesia.

Kobus was granted a scholarship by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for doctoral study at the University of Bonn in Germany (2007) under the supervision of Prof. Michael Wolter. He is a member of the following national and international scholarly societies: Society of Biblical Studies (SBL), DAAD Alumni Association(SA), the International Context Group and the New Testament Society of South Africa.

As director of the Prestige FOCUS Lectures in New Testament Ethics held twice in a decade at the University of Pretoria, Kobus strives to build bridges between first world and third world academics and bring experienced and young academic scholars together and publish high quality literature that will benefit academy, church and society.

Kobus has experience in corporate and business facilitation and training. He presented several television programs in the past and is a weekly co-presenter of a radioprogram “Verstaan jy wat jy lees” with 70 000 listeners and an editor of the Biblical knowledge website “Bybelkennis” where he has published more than 50 articles, building the bridge between academy and industry.
Kobus is Married to Martelize and they have a son, Joshua.
